Let me tell you about Fashing!

Ok I forgot one big event I wanted to tell everyone about.  Fashing!! This is pretty much like Mardi Gras for the Germanys.  It's a week of parties and events and just overall debauchery.  So  the first event we participated in was dinner at this local beer hall in Parkinkirchen, or at least what we thought would be a low key dinner.  If you looks at my facebook picture you will see the amount of beers that were drank during this dinner.  So during dinner all these people with mask kept walking in.. Some of them we like Mexican themed some were doctors, some were just little old women.. The mask were great tho.. They get passed down from generation to generation so they are super old and a little scary.  Anyways these masked people literally pour drinks down your throat.  Some are good.. And some tasted like straight gasoline. Overall I give this night a 10! These masked people hung out with us all night.. BUT WE NEVER SAW THERE FACES.... They drink their beers and drinks in the way that you never get to see their faces... It was crazy loco!

The next night was the costume party.  I first wanted to go as a black Bella from the Twilight series, but I could not get my friend Shane to go as Edward so that was scratched. (Sorry boob and Rachel) ... I went in Toga instead.... Let me just tell you this ladies... you should not wear a toga to a party with 500 people!! It will get ripped off you.. That is enough said about that night...:) It was just too much fun.

The last night of Fashing was hut to hut.  So technically you are suppose start at the top of the alpiztbahn ( the top of the mountain) and sled down.  This to me sounded like a good way to break my arm so I decided to snowboard instead.  So basically there are like 4 huts on your way down the mountain and you stop and dance and drink a lot at each one... I myself decided to fill my camel pack with a 5th of Jim Beam.. Lets just say I don't really remember the last hut or getting down the mountain. Oh yeah and did I mention that this is all occurring at like 11:00 at night. Yeah it was a fun adventure.  Head lamps were a must..

The next day you are suppose to repent and go to church for ash Wednesday.I would say half the people I live with were all in church that day...  It was a great week in Garmisch!!!

Love you mean it!

Salzberg and More

Gutan tag everybody!!!.. Sorry for being absent the past few weeks but shit has been Papayas.... Between trying to get adjusted to this crazy lifestyle which is a mixture of a college dorm and a half way house I have just forgotten to keep all my main squeezes posted on my adventures.. I will start with one of my favorite cities thus far.  Salzberg... I recommending going  right now! The city of beautiful, filled with bridges, castles and Cathedrals!!! I went with two of my good friends here Mandy and Noah.. Mandy reminds me a lot of Boob!!! She is Catholic and every step she takes out of the church is pretty much a step to hell, but she is hilarious with one of the driest sense of humor I have ever encounters.  Of course she is also a little crazy because I would say that all of my friends have a streak of crazy in them.  Noah is a super chill guy from somewhere outside of DC.  He was in the Navy for 4 years before he got here but he is the only kid here that has served.  The things about this place is that everyone has such a different and amazing story as to what brought them here.  It is pretty strange but even after being here for a month I still feel like there are people here I have not met.

Ok back to Salzberg.  Thank god me and Mandy had a boy with us because there is a huge fortress there that has been taken over by pretty much everyone but most famously by that little midget of a man Napoleon! But having Noah there was like bring a 12 year old kid.  He was running for archer windows to cannons to torture rooms like it was going out of style... It was super fun to get into it. Also the history behind the whole place is daunting.

I have figured out that as boring as scenery pictures are to others when you show them off.  They are just a must have on my adventures here.  The landscape and architecture is surreal and it helps me put life, time and the important things into prospective  Miss you all much... Love...

My next adventure is Amsterdam at the end of March..

Sleepwalking

So I consider myself to have the immune system of a horse having lived with 70 ladies in college but this is a whole new kitten caboodle. There is this bug that everyone gets within the first 2 weeks here and I totally 100% have it. We all do everything together, work, party, cook, hangout. Literally we are a petree dish of germs. It is pretty crappy to be sick, but I think I am getting over it and the jet lag seems to be subsiding. Everyone says it takes about 2 weeks to get on track here so I am already half way done with this madness. Speaking of madness. Since I am sick I have been taking an ambien to sleep thru the night. The last few nights I have been waking up with these strange memories. They range from making myself a snack to stumbling through the abrams hallways. So this morning I confirmed that these memories are actually fact.. I have been sleep walking!!! So you know when you hear all those crazy facts about Ambien and people driving cars and stuff. Well it is all TRUE!!!
So back to my life here.
Anyone that knows me at all knows that I love a bargain and getting a good deal on my purchases. The Px and the commissary are these two stores on base with THE cheapest groceries around. I got a gallon of OJ and meds for a whopping 5:90 yesterday. So I love that place and it will probably jade me forever.
So the US ski team is here in Garmisch. It is been pretty fun to see this little town in full swing. There are people everywhere but we have all been warned to stay away from the single soldiers. Tonight is the super bowl. It airs at 12:00pm here so we will all be at bar till 4:00am. GO CARDINALS!!
Besides waking up at 3:00am everyday and being sick everything else is great here. I have a few trips in the works such as Amsterdam, Prague, and Italy. I will keep you all posted on those.
Miss you Mean it.

Day 3 and I am feeling Insane in the Membrane!!!

I was hoping that this feeling would go away, but it hasn't. This place is still as bitchin and surreal as the first day I saw it. Right now since I dont start work till Thursday my one and only task given to me is to stay up as late as possible each night, and the best way to get to sleep and stay asleep is to drink yourself into a coma. So literally during the day I fill out paperwork and bum around. Then between the hours of about 11:00 and 4:00 I am pretty much brain dead. For example.... I was in a shop asking about a cell phone.. The clerk asked me if I needed help I guess.. I would have sworn up and down this man was speaking German. I told him I don't speak German to which he replied "I am America speak English and you must be in processing for the resort." So anyways back to my last two days. After my insane period I then suddenly feel like a Million Euros and could run thru a wall if I wanted. On Monday we went to cheap pizza night at Peaches. Where everyone buys the "newbies"drinks and tries to keep them awake. At about 2:00am and wayyyyyy to many liters this was accomplished. Last night was cheap burgers night at the ski lodge where I was instructed to just keep drinking!!! Once again I drank myself into a stupor and slept, except this time I woke up at 3:00am completely alert and wide awake. So now it is about 1:30pm here and to stay awake till my bewitching drunk hour I am going to take a ski lesson.
Life is good here. Everyone is here for the same purpose. To have fun and travel a lot. Which is why I came. So I am pretty much as happy as a clam with some strawberry jam. Miss you mean it!!

2 Zannies and Bloodmary Later

I have arrived!!! The adventure here was mad.. I took half a sleeping pill and downed two glasses of red vino and fell asleep in Chicago before the plane took off... Didn't wake up till the plane landed. I missed everything. No dinner, No movie. I was basically taken advantage of by United Airlines, but in a good way. So I got to the airport and was very confused. Since I had not experienced a flight at all I still felt like I was in the states, until I realized I could not read shit! Really.... There was nothing in English. But anywho... The drive from Munchen to Garmish is about 1 hour.. It was a really beautiful sunny day so I was able to see all the cool architecture and sights. The lodge we stay in is pretty sweet. My roommate is a very chill laided back girl from Alaska. Right off the back she invited me to go to Egypt with her and like 6 other people in May.. Of course I accepted because I do have about 10 dollars in Egyptian money that someone gave me. :-) But overall people travel alot!!! My roommate has been here for 6 months and gone France and a few other places.. This other cat is going to Italy for a week, and I met someone who says I have to go to Czech Republic. So I guess I will be going to CR baby.. Today's agenda is staying AWAKE!!! So my roommate and some other fools from the Abrams (that is what our dorm is called) took me and the other newbies around town. My first meal in Germany was...Indian FOOD!! Really good Indian food!! Then we went to a BOMB ASS cheap beer shop.. I will be there a lot. After me and my roommate Trisha went to a consignment store called Protzent Makte where I got into a minor altercation with a saucy store owner. It was great, he loved me by the end and is giving me a deal on a couch tomorrow.

So that was my first day here. It is pretty surreal but I can already tell I am going to love this place. It is gorgeous here. Ski passes are 18.00.... Trips to Munchen are like 5 euro.. And everyone here is applying for extended stay.... NO ONE WANTS TO LEAVE!!!! Its like never never land with lots of BEER...
